documentary

Based in Lefkada, I specialise in sailing cinematography and documentary filmmaking that explores the authentic relationship between sailors and the marine environment. My work focuses on the sailing industry and the vital marine conservation efforts required to protect our Greek waters.

I believe the most powerful stories are found offshore. From high-action regatta coverage to intimate long-distance cruising narratives, I use an observational, documentary-led approach to document the Blue Economy and the spirit of Mediterranean sailing. I partner with sailors, sustainable brands, marine companies and environmental organisations to create films that celebrate the sea and advocate for its future.

telling stories of the sea and sustainability

"My mission is to provide a cinematic voice to the stories that define our oceans. By blending a sailor’s understanding of the sea with a filmmaker’s eye for narrative, I create documentary works that highlight the vital balance between maritime culture and environmental preservation. Based in the Ionian, I am dedicated to capturing the authentic, the sustainable, and the profound, helping global organisations communicate their impact through the power of visual storytelling."

The Narrative

Filmed on location throughout Poros and Methana in July 2025, ‘Saronic Story’ examines the practicalities of marine sustainability within the modern sailing world. The narrative follows Ilias, author of Set Sail in Greece, as he navigates real-world maritime challenges and provides a cinematic roadmap for protecting the delicate Mediterranean ecosystem.

The Approach

The production utilised a blend of fixed-point observation and gimbal-stabilised cinematography to capture the authentic pace of life onboard. By integrating high-altitude drone surveys with underwater perspectives, the film offers a comprehensive view of the environment we inhabit as sailors. The aesthetic is intentionally vibrant, designed to reflect the natural clarity and biodiversity of the Greek waters.

Portfolio Pillars: Exploring the Blue Frontier

Sailing Lifestyle & Documentary

Capturing the human connection to the ocean. This pillar focuses on the authentic experience of life under canvas. Moving beyond traditional "holiday videos," I use an observational documentary approach to capture the slow-travel movement, long-distance cruising narratives, and the candid moments that define the sailing lifestyle.

Marine Conservation & Sustainability

Giving a cinematic voice to environmental stewardship. Dedicated to documenting the "Blue Economy," this section highlights the vital work being done to protect our oceans. From scientific research expeditions to sustainable seafaring initiatives like Saronic Story, I translate complex environmental themes into engaging visual records.

Regatta & Performance Cinematography

The technical art of sailing in motion. Where documentary meets high-octane action. I specialise in capturing the precision and energy of competitive sailing. Using high-speed chase-boat filming and offshore drone operations, I document the mechanics of the rigging, the teamwork of the crew, and the raw power of wind on water.

Operational Expertise

The Sailor-Filmmaker Advantage

Capturing high-end cinematography on a moving vessel requires more than just technical skill—it requires an intimate understanding of the wind, the rigging, and the unique physics of the marine environment. As an experienced sailor based in the Ionian, I navigate the complexities of life onboard with ease.

Whether operating a handheld rig in a heavy swell or launching a drone from a pitching deck, my approach is seamless and non-disruptive. I work alongside your crew to anticipate the boat’s movement, ensuring we capture the most impactful shots without compromising the safety or flow of the vessel. From offshore passages to high-action regattas, I provide the professional reliability and maritime "common sense" that the industry demands.

Technical Capabilities

Offshore Drone Operations: Certified and experienced in launching, tracking, and recovery from moving vessels to capture essential "bird’s eye" maritime perspectives.

4K Cinematic Production: High-bitrate 10-bit delivery, providing maximum dynamic range for the intense highlights and deep blues of the Mediterranean light.

Gimbal & Optical Stabilisation: Advanced stabilisation systems to counteract hull vibration and sea state, ensuring smooth, cinematic movement even in heavy weather.

Underwater Documentation: (As seen in the Posidonia studies) High-clarity underwater housing for documenting environmental impact and hull aesthetics.

Authentic Soundscapes: Utilising professional-grade directional microphones to capture the "soul" of the sea—from the snap of a sail to the rush of the bow wave.

Ongoing Projects

Ionian Story

Produced for Sustainable Sailing Greece, this documentary begins filming in May 2026. The film follows experienced sailor Dominique as she explores the realities of low-impact cruising in the Ionian. From responsible anchoring over Posidonia seagrass to prioritising sail over engine, the story audits how we can protect the waters we navigate.

The Approach Using cinéma vérité techniques, the production moves from onboard life to underwater environments and local harbours. Combining intimate storytelling with drone shots, Ionian Story captures the balance between maritime tradition and the urgent need for coastal preservation.

sustainable seafood

Produced in collaboration with the Ionian Environment Foundation, this documentary explores the complex sustainability of the Greek seafood industry. By tracing the journey from offshore aquaculture and local fisheries to the traditional taverna menu, the film examines the environmental and economic choices behind the seafood we consume.

Principal photography is currently underway across Paxos, Kefalonia, Amorgos, and Athens. The production features a diverse range of perspectives—from industrial innovators and local fishermen to leading marine biologists. Through intimate interviews and high-end field cinematography, the film provides a balanced look at the challenges and solutions within the Mediterranean's Blue Economy.

Have a story that needs to be told?

From sustainable maritime initiatives to high-action sailing narratives, I am always looking to partner with NGOs, brands, and individuals who value authentic storytelling. Whether you’re in the early stages of a project or ready to begin production, let’s discuss how we can bring your vision to life.
